Adhesive station
A UV glue is filled into the inserted door sill trims. This glue is used to seal the edges and the electronics.
Labelling station
Each sill trim is given its own serial number.
UV extruder
The UV extruders must be kept in their station so that the glue in the nozzles does not harden.
Benefits
Starting point
For a new generation of illuminated door sill trims for the new Audi C8, a new plant had to be developed which glues the sill trims pre-assembled by the operator and applies the decorative part.
Solution
The plant works in two steps. In the first step, the pre-assembled assembly (only the light unit) is inserted by the first operator (always two at a time), who then fills in a UV adhesive to seal the sill trim. A label is then applied and the sill trim is removed by operator 2. The operator then places the sill trims in the second part of the machine together with the aluminium decorative sheets, which are then visible to the customer. The decorative sheets are glued to the sill trim with a hot-melt adhesive.
